Burnham 122 lost to Westlands 166-8 by 44 runs

ROB Driver was left to play a lone hand as Burnham slumped to a 44-run defeat at Westlands on the opening day of the 2015 season.

Driver was left stranded on 80 not out as Burnham failed to chase down 166 in 45 overs.

Only Keast (14) was able to join Driver in double figures, as they folded to 122 all out inside 39 overs - Dan Legg was chief destroyer for Westlands, returning figures of 5-27.

Earlier, three wickets apiece for Brian Brogden (3-35) and Mike Green (3-30) had helped restrict Westlands to a mediocre total.

Driver (1-24) and Harris (1-22) were also in the wickets, while Jack Fuller was the anchor of the Westlands innings with an unbeaten 65.

But the Burnham chase began in disastrous fashion, as Harris and Tasker both fell without scoring to the bowling of Alex Murphy (3-13).

The middle order, Driver apart, didn't fare much better, with Worthington, House and Aston all dismissed cheaply - and once Keast's short resistance had been brought to an end by the destructive Legg, the Burnham tail failed to wag and they were eventually bowled out with more than six overs to spare.
