East Huntspill 154 beat Weston-super-Mare 117 by 37 runs

AN impressive bowling display fired East Huntspill to a 37-run victory over Weston.

Defending a mediocre total of 154, Easts' bowlers were on top form - and four wickets from I Cooke (4-29), together with three for H Dare (3-35) and two for I Phillips (2-26), sealed a hard-fought win.

Earlier, M Edwards (29) and R Pomeroy (26) had top scored for Easts, but failed to convert their scores into anything more substantial - and that was the tale of the innings.

K Stamp (18mo) added valuable runs from number 11, but the innings ended seven balls short of its full allocation.

Weston looked on course for the win with J Holt (27) and B Robinson (29) going along comfortably - but Phillips, Dare and Cooke soon got to work and the hosts were all out with three overs to spare.

East Huntspill 2 141 lost to Cheddar 3 144-2 by eight wickets

A MIDDLE order batting collapse saw East Huntspill 2 slump to an eight wicket defeat at the hands of Cheddar on Saturday.

After a steady start, thanks to solid contributions from Darren West (31) and Kev Watts (34), Easts crumbled to 141 all out, as Derek Kidner (24no) was left high and dry.

The three batsmen mentioned were the only players to reach double figures, as Cheddar's D Packham (6-20) tore through the middle order to return highly impressive figures.

Packham then turned his attention to batting - and after Kevin Crennol (1-25) and Bev Gowan (1-21) - the number three smashed an unbeaten 93 to guide his side to a comfortable win with more than 15 overs to spare.
