Burnham 101-6 beat Middlezoy 99 by four wickets
ED Booth and Jake Harding each took four wickets as Burnham 2s beat Middlezoy on Saturday.
The pair ransacked the Middlezoy batting to skittle them out for just 99, before Burnham cruised home with nearly 14 overs to spare.
Andy Ashfold (23) and P White (25) top scored in the chase, while Brad House finished 20 not out.
Three wickets from B Searle (3-23) ensured it wasn’t all plain sailing for Burnham, but it wasn’t enough to send them off course as they eased home with plenty in the tank.
J Lear (22) and A Campbell (20) got Zoy off to a fairly decent start, but when the pair departed it triggered a flurry of wickets, with only G White (16) and N Peppard (12) offering any resistance.
The Middlezoy innings was wrapped up with the final ball of the 27th over, as Booth claimed his fourth victim to keep Zoy in double figures.
In reply, the ever reliable Andy Ashfold plundered some early boundaries to kick-start the chase, but at the other end, Gaylard fell for just six and was followed shortly after by Tipler (13).
Top scorer White (25) steadied the ship with a well-paced innings – and when Coles fell without scoring, he was joined by House.
White was unable to see his side home – and Harding’s dismissal immediately after gave Middlezoy a glimmer of hope.
But House kept his composure to ensure Burnham left with 35 points and second successive win to top the table.
