Premier League
Somerset Rebels 58, Berwick Bandits 32
SOMERSET Rebels put in a solid performance to see off Berwick bandits at the Oaktree Arena on Friday.
After a slow start it was a resounding victory for the Rebels and one that saw every member of the Rebels side contribute.
It was not as if the visitors had not had their chances, as overall they had the better of the encounters from the gate, but appeared to have no answer to the power of the Rebels after that point.
Kevin Doolan and Ben Barker were pale shadows of their former selves around the Oak Tree Arena, with the sternest opposition coming from Claus Vissing, Thomas Jørgensen and Richard Hall.
On the Rebels side of the pits, Brady Kurtz had reigned supreme with a stunning full five ride maximum.
Not always first out of the gate, his skill, talent and sheer speed had seen him carve up the opposition, who had no answer to his stunning display.
He was ably supported by the whole team, but none more so than Richie Worrall, whose battling performance in returning his best ever score in Rebels colours, had won him the ‘Rider of the Night’ award from meeting sponsors, The First Reserve Group, who are a like-minded group of four local companies working together for the benefit of their clients.
The Somerset Rebels take on Scunthorpe this Friday, before heading to the Eddie Wright Raceway on Bank Holiday Monday for the return.
