BURNHAM 2s crashed to a disappointing 83-run defeat at the hands of North Petherton 2s on Saturday in Division Seven of the Somerset Cricket League

Earlier, Andy Birkett (3-35), J Harding (2-321) and S Green (2-65) were the pick of the Burnham bowlers, helping to restrict Pethy to a chase-able total.

But the Burnham reply never really got going and the crumpled to 89 all out inside 35 overs.

In Division Three, Huntspill and District fell to a 33-run defeat to Glastonbury 2s, despite 4-37 from M Osmant.

Matt Counsell also took 3-48 to help restrict Glastonbury to 186-9, but Huntspill could only muster 153 in reply.

In Division Five, East Huntspill went down by 97 runs at home to Baltonsborough, despite an unbeaten 62 from A Chedzey.

Chasing 264 to win, after a century from A Barron (104no) and 85 not out from P Creed, Easts could only muster 166 all out, thanks mainly to the efforts of Chedzey.

Lympsham 2s suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Temple Cloud 2s in Division 8N.

A Hall (48) and S Bailey (36) top scored as Lympsham posted 181-6 – but 67 from H Wilton saw Cloud to their target in 38 overs – J Hall (2-48) was the pick of the Lympsham bowlers.

Elsewhere in the division, Wedmore 2s were all out for 141 in pursuit of Belvedere’s imposing 251-3.

C Ham (126no) led the way for Belvedere, while R Gamlin (44) and J Gamlin (40) top scored for Wedmore.

In Division 9NW, Huntspill and District 2s crept to a dramatic one-wicket win against Weston-super-Mare 4s.

T Mccollum was the match-winner for Huntspill, with an unbeaten 28 to see his side across the finish line.

D Tippetts (2-34), K Dibble (3-31) and P Maxwell (2-15) were the wicket takers for the hosts as Weston posted 163-7.

In reply, K Dibble (20) and M cavill (30) had put Huntspill in a strong position and on course for a comfortable win, but the wickets began to tumble and it was left to Mccollum and Dibble (4no) to complete a nail-biting win.

Elsewhere in Division 9NW, East Huntspill 2s lost a low-scoring affair by 29 runs.

Needing 107 to win after J Melhuish had taken 4-21, Easts slumped to 77 all out in just 20 overs.
