Frome 17 Burnham II 27

BURNHAM II continued their impressive start to the season with a 27-17 victory over Frome.

Under the watch of stand in skipper Jake Allen, Burnham took the game to home team.

Jake Allen interlinked well with scrum-half Mike Nash who broke a couple of tackles to go in under the posts.

Jake Harding, who had relinquished his number nine shirt to Nash for the number 10 shirt, duly converted.

Not to rest on their laurels, Burnham continued in the same vain and Frome could not live with their neat off loading game and Mike Nash went over again out wide.

This time Harding missed his kick at goal – but shortly after this, the team were joined by Tom Stevens who made the numbers up to fourteen.

At this point Frome woke up and their heavier pack started to dominate at the set piece and they rumbled over the line for a try.

However, Frome’s ill-discipline let Burnham back into the game and they made good yards into Frome territory, where Ash Tucker cut a good line to go close to the posts, allowing Harding to convert.

Before half-time Frome hit back with their number 10 scampering over.

At the turn around, Mike Edwards secured the ball allowing Ash Tucker to go over – and Harding then converted a penalty.

The remainder of the game saw Burnham defending as Frome tried to chase the game.

However strong tackling from Tom Wall and Mike Howarth saw Burnham only concede one late try.

Next week Burnham have a week off, but return the following week to take on league leaders Morganians.
