Tribute Western Counties North

Barts Rugby 14 Burnham 27

BURNHAM recorded their fourth league win of the season in comfortable fashion, beating Barts 27-14 on Saturday.

The visitors scored two tries courtesy of Alex Chase and Beau Dickens, while Wills Conway kicked 17 points for Burnham.

Burnham started well, forcing Barts into conceding a penalty which was duly converted by Conway.

Barts fought back, keeping Burnham pinned in their own 22 – and after a series of penalties the referee awarded Barts a penalty try.

Back came Burnham and after Jack Pope went on a jinking run, supported by Wikitera, Burnham recycled twice before Alex Chase crashed over. Burnham started the second-half with strong intentions, quickly forcing Bart to concede two penalties, both for offside and both converted by Conway for a 14-7 lead.

However this was swiftly followed by Bart being awarded a penalty - and from the resulting lineout, which they won, the ball was recycled and Barts crashed over.

From this point on, Burnham took a stranglehold on the game, catching Bart offside - and Conway converted for 17-14.

This was followed by Burnham turning over the Bart ball, before releasing Beau Dickens to swap passes with Pope and score under the posts. Just before the end of the 80 minutes, Conway added another penalty to round of the match 14-27.

Burnham are now fourth in Western Counties North with four wins from six games.

They are without a game this weekend but return to league action on November 7, when Bristol Harlequins are the visitors to the BASC Ground.
