Sedgemoor Two

Burnham 9 Taunton Vale 0

BURNHAM took full advantage of the youthfulness of their visitors to put on quite a show in front of their lovely supportive crowd.

In driving rain, the blues quickly adapted to the conditions and forced some early penalty corners.

From their first one, Tracey Dunn`s powerful shot was saved, but Sarah Johnson was on hand to stab in the rebound.

Chelsea Fisher began a move for the second that saw the ball travel around the back and down the right, with Louise Peace driving down the wing to the by-line.

Her perfect pull back was swept in from the penalty spot by Carly Bush.

Bush increased the lead, doubling her own tally after a fine ball by Amy Edmundson.

She allowed the ball to come across her body before spinning on a sixpence to strike it on her reverse low into the corner.

Nicky Glanville set up the fourth with a quick direct ball out of defence which sent Edmundson racing into the final third.

Her cross come shot was left by the GK as it was outside the D but it hit the post and was tapped in by Ellie Bishop who was alert and following up.

Edmundson got her deserved goal and Burnham's fifth next.

Another short corner &and another superb strike that nestled right in the corner before the GK had time to move.

Johnson scored again from a short with a text book goal straight off the training ground.

She deflected Edmundson’s strike high into the net from her post position for a 6-0 half-time lead.

Ali Evely popped up on the right to create Burnham's seventh - her cross was slapped home at the second attempt by Bush for her hat-trick.

Bush then turned provider as she picked up Glanville`s searching through ball high up on the right.

She drove into the D and slipped a pass to Edmundson, who cracked home a stunning strike.

Bush completed the rout with her fourth of the match - Jessie Woodbury showed great strength and determination with a positive run down the left and despite being tackled and losing the ball, she won it straight back and passed to Bush who took it in her stride and slapped it past the GK.
