Sedgemoor Two

Burnham 10 White Eagles III 1

BURNHAM went second in the league with this big win in freezing conditions.

They started brightly and rotated the whole squad throughout to keep things fresh and stop people getting too cold.

Caroline Hunt opened the scoring with a determined run into the D and a powerful strike.

Sarah Johnson's shot on the turn was well saved but the rebound was pounced on by Carly Bush for the first of another hat-trick for her.

She doubled her tally moments later with a sharp reverse strike from the penalty spot after good work down the right by Louise Peace.

Not to be outdone, Johnson got in on the act after a nice switch across the D meant she was ideally placed to sweep the ball in.

Eagles looked dangerous on the break though as Burnham pushed up higher looking for more goals and they nicked a goal of their own just before half time to make it 4-1.

However goalkeeper Sian Kelly was on top form and she made several vital one on one saves and kicked well to ensure the Blues were not punished again.

Jenna Bushell looked strong down the left and combined well with Emma Jarrett to set Bush free in the D.

Her shot was heading in but Hunt made certain by tapping in from right on the line.

Bush was not to be denied her third though which came just moments later.

Peace, a constant provider from the right, sent another cross fizzing into the D which Bush struck on her reverse low into the corner.

Tracey Dunn's strike from one of many short corners earned by the Blues was deflected in by a combination of Hunt and Bush and she then set up a chance for Johnson with a quick pass. Unfortunately her precise shot, struck with power hit the post.

Hunt got her deserved hat-trick with a super flick from Johnson's shot after a dazzling run from Ellie Bishop opened up the defence.

Peace was terrorising the Eagles defence with her direct running and crossing so she created chances every time she got the ball.

Linking well with Bishop and Imogen Wright the Blues were particularly strong down their right.

June England was the next to benefit from Peace as she was perfectly placed at the far post to connect with another cross.

Fittingly it was Peace who had the last word with a very well deserved goal of her own.

This time instead of crossing as she advanced towards the by-line she smashed the ball in at the near post to make it double figures for Burnham for the first time this season.

Burnham host Exeter University this weekend in their last game of 2015.
