Somerset Two South
Morganians 17 Burnham II 5
AFTER a text book home win Burnham travelled down the road to play old adversary Morganians.
Burnham opened the scoring through Stuart Blake, who was the beneficiary of a strong driving maul, which started on the Morgs' 22.
Fly-half Scott Havercroft could not add the extras.
However up against former Tongan fly half Elisi Vunipola he did not look out of place.
If Scott can adopt Elisi’s art of bossing the game by continually talking and being the pivot to play off, we are looking at a new Burnham 1st team fly-half.
At the restart, Morgs took the game back to Burnham and quickly levelled the scores.
However they did not convert their spoils.
Following half time, Burnham knew if they could regain their initial momentum and cut out the mistakes they could take the win.
However the Morgs half back combination continually asked the questions, releasing strong gain line runners.
The momentum swung towards Morgs, but Burnham man of the match Felix Grandfield was at the heart of the defence with some courageous tackling.
The Morganians pressure resulted in one second half try and they finished the game as victors.
Burnham return to league action at home to Minehead on February 13 (2.30pm).
