Sedgemoor Two

Winscombe 1 BOS 7

BURNHAM started really strongly and looked bright going forward, despite the cold conditions.

However it was the home team who took the lead against the run of play with a breakaway goal, that just squeezed over the line, despite Sian Kelly best efforts.

Kelly went on to make several more important saves in a see saw first half to keep her team in the match.

Burnham kept going though and eventually hit a purple patch.

Caroline Hunt who was splendid throughout with her hold up play and unselfish work, hit a penalty corner towards the post where Sarah Johnson was perfectly placed to flick in.

Johnson doubled her tally moments later after good work down the right and another assist from Hunt.

Amy Edmundson then took centre stage with a super individual goal and went on to have a storming game.

She was full of running and intent and really stretched the home defence whichever side she was playing from.

She made it four just before half time with a strike from a narrow angle after combining with Hunt.

Burnham couldn't get going as well in the second half, but worked hard as a team to keep probing and defended better to prevent Winscombe having many more chances.

Imogen Wright and Ali Evely looked solid in defence and provided good width and support going forward.

In fact it was Evely's quick thinking that set up the next goal.

Her pass released Lauren Cook whose excellent driving run and shot was saved but Edmundson was quickly onto the rebound to complete her hat-trick.

Edmundson scored Burnham's sixth to cap a fine performance, before Hunt deservedly got on the score sheet from close range.

Burnham play Clevedon in a friendly on Saturday.
