Berrow 3 Fry Club 1

BERROW defeated their high flying opponents on an afternoon to remember at Red Road.

With the previous home drubbing still fresh in the memory, Berrow knew they'd have to be at the top of their game to get anything from this match.

Both teams started well playing some decent football on a bobbly pitch, but it was Frys who took the lead when a lapse in concentration at a free kick allowed the left back to steal in at the back post with a header for 1-0.

It stayed this way until half time, and Berrow came out confident at the start of the second half - and 15 minutes in substitute Jack Smith found himself alone at the back post and made no mistake smashing the ball into the net for 1-1.

Berrow were in no mood to settle for a draw, and with 15 minutes to go Jordie Eldridge cleverly side stepped his marker and hit a shot past the keeper and onto the post, it fell into the path of Cleave who at the second attempt crashed the ball home and send the players and bench of Berrow into rapturous celebrations.

Berrow were in control now and in the last couple of minutes Jordie Eldridge was clumsily bundled down in the box, and skipper Luke McErlain duly obliged with a powerful effort passed the Frys custodian.

The game finished 3-1 in a thoroughly deserved victory.

Berrow lost 3-2 previous to this game in midweek away to Odd Down.

Despite going 2-0 down early on, an outstanding Anthony Cleave solo goal and a Steve Leaf header pulled Berrow level, before a last minute Odd Down goal won the game.
