AFTERNOON starter Mark Elvins produced the lowest round of the day to claim the March Monthly Medal at Brean and also win the Presidents Putter.

He shot an impressive nett 65 to pip Clive Goode by a single stroke in Division Two and take the Putter which was carried over from the cancelled February Medal.

The Division One winner was Jason Kidley with a nett 67 which left him two better than Roger Vaughan.

In-form Kevin Davies continued his winning ways, making it a hat-trick of successes by scooping the Division Three top prize with his nett 72. Steve Martin was the runner up on 73.

Sunday's competition was the Charles Cooke March Hare, which is an individual stableford over 18 holes.

The winner was super Swede Mats Mattsson with a superb 41 points in some chilly conditions.

His Scandinavian background stood him good stead as he beat Simon Baunton by a single point.

Baunton in turn also held a one point advantage over third placed man Leighton Jenkins. Tony Higgins took fourth after losing out to Jenkins on a back nine countback.

Pat Mullholland continued his rich vein of form in Seniors events at Brean as he added the March Stableford to his recent February Medal win.

He scored 40 points on a cold but dry day to lead the rest of the field home by four points.

His nearest challenger was Seniors Captain Elect Ray Byatt who took the runners up prize with 36 points.

George Thomas looked likely to be challenging Mullholland after a superb front nine but he ran out of steam on the homeward run to finish third with 35.
