Gary Anderson secured a place in the PDC World Darts Championship semi-finals and keeps his dream of a third consecutive title alive.
The Burnham-on-Sea resident, nicknamed 'The Flying Scotsman', defeated underdog Dave Chisnall to make the the last four, but only after holding off a determined fightback.
Anderson took the first set 3-2 among a flurry of 180 maximums - the Scot hitting four, Chisnall five - and he kept his level of performance high as he then secured a 2-0 lead.
But Chisnall, in his first quarter-final at this event, broke twice in the third set as he clawed it back to 2-1, before levelling matters after another two-break set.
Knocked down but far from out, Anderson's response was that of a champion - taking the fifth set 3-0.
Chisnall brought it back to 3-3, before taking a 2-0 advantage in the seventh set - only for Anderson to hit back for a 4-3 overall lead again.
One set from the semi-finals, the Burnham man kept his cool, claiming the match (which featured a mightily impressive 33 maximums) 5-3.
Anderson will face fellow Scot Peter Wright in the last four, after he saw off James Wade 5-3.
