FOR the first time in many years, a ‘ceremonial’ Captain’s Drive In was held for the incoming captains of Brean Golf Club.

First away was Jenny Vaughan, sending one down the right side of the fairway.

Next up was Seniors captain Ray Byatt – he also favoured the right side, just missing the fairway on the corner of the dogleg.

Finally 2017 club captain Dave Porter took his turn, and he also just missed the right side of the fairway, but was another 50 yards or so closer to the green.

Following this ceremony the players dispersed to their various starting points to get the AGM Shotgun Scramble underway.

An excellent turnout of 21 teams of three enjoyed a competitive morning of golf before returning to the clubhouse for the AGM.

Ahead of the meeting getting underway the winners were announced, with Roger Vaughan, Steve Jones and Steve Mason leading the way on 59.2.

They headed home the incoming captain Porter, who teamed up with Steve Eley and Simon Baunton to score 59.8.

Ron Vine had the best score of the day in the Monthly Stableford as he scored 43 points to win Division 2.
