Street Reserves 0, Burnham United 3

BURNHAM United enjoyed a fruitful Bank Holiday weekend, with two wins in three days to continue their push up the Division 1 West table.

In Saturday's penultimate home game, Burnham beat Winscombe 3-1, in a game where the hosts started well and grew stronger as the match progressed.

They took the lead in the 23rd minute, when Joe Selway's goalbound effort was hooked in by a Winscombe defender, resulting in the dubious goal panel awarding an own goal.

Burnham led 1-0 at the break and went looking for their second, with the midfield four working hard to maintain control and create chances.

It took until the 75th minute for them to find their second goal, Harry Penfold finding the bottom corner, and substitute Ben Cherry scored five minutes later with a composed finish to wrap it up.

Winscombe scored deep into injury time to deny Burnham the clean sheet.

Then, on Bank Holiday Monday, Burnham travelled to Street Reserves and put in a fantastic performance in a 3-0 win.

Burnham gave a debut to 17-year-old goalkeeper Dylan Webb, and they carried on from where they left off on Saturday.

Matt Scott shot over the top after a cross from Finley Wilkinson, before Ryan Stiles opened the scoring in the 20th minute, latching onto a through ball and striking from 18 yards.

Stiles came close to making it 2-0, as his snapshot just went over the bar.

Street started the second half well and were denied by two saves from the debutant Webb.

Burnham then put the game to bed in the 60th minute, as Joe Selway headed in at the back post for the visitors.

Stiles scored his second of the day, 15 minutes from time, after great work from Scott.
