Ollie Streeter claimed two of Burnham's three tries on Saturday
Western Counties North
Burnham 15, Avon 9
BURNHAM welcomed Avon to the BASC ground in glorious rugby weather but it turned out more a battle of defences.
From the start it was clear Burnham were complacent after last week’s dominant performance but they were soon shocked into action as Avon were 6-0 up.
This seemed to spark Burnham into action and a great burst from Russ Pike saw him scorch his way into Avon’s half and off-load to Richard Muskett who kicked to Jordan Paul and he sprinted towards the corner only to be stopped. From the lineout, Mike Hocking gave his front row compatriot Ollie Streeter the scoring pass to close the gap to 5-6.
The second half started strongly with a well-worked lineout from vice-captain Sam Coles giving Streeter the chance to bulldoze his way over from 15 metres.
Burnham worked their way down into the opposition’s half and again from a lineout Burnham drove Mike Hocking over the line.
Man of the match (sponsored by Pete and Liz Evans) – Mike Hocking.
l On Saturday, Burnham are at Chosen Hill Former Pupils in what is believed to be the first ever meeting between these two sides Coach leaves around 11.30am to noon.
