Weston and District League round up
BERROW Reserves player/manager Steve Eley said he was left frustrated by his side's 2-1 defeat to Cleeve West Town Reserves.
A neat one-two move between Eley and Shaun Lismore set up the latter to slot past the onrushing Cleeve keeper to take the lead.
But a hatful of chances went begging for Berrow and the half finished 1-0.
In the second-half, two mistakes let the visitors in and they punished Berrow in style to wrap up a 2-1 win.
Eley said: “The missed chances cost us massively, we should have wrapped the game up early on.
“It is very frustrating and the league does not lie - Saturay's game at Nailsea United A is a must-win for us now.”
Our only other side in action in the Weston and District League was Division Five side Burnham United 'A' who picked up their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at Axbridge Town Reserves.
Burnham led after being gifted an own goal by the home side but that elusive win was not to be as a smart move saw a second-half equaliser for Axbridge.
Manager Nigel Jones said: “It has been a difficult season with unavailability's but the youngsters have done very well because the step up to men's football is massive and they are improving all the time.
“We know this season will be tough but the lads work well and are more skilful than other teams but just lack the strength because they are young.”
Next week, they travel to Clevedon United 'B'.
Other fixtures this weekend include Burnham United 'A' at home to Tickenham United, Wedmore visit Portishead Town 'B', King Alfred Sports Centre welcome Selkirk United Reserves and Wedmore Reserves are at home to Portishead Caledonian Thistle.
