Western Counties North

Berry Hill 14, Burnham 3

THREE defeats in a row saw Burnham failing to learn their previous weeks lessons in discipline at breakdown and attacking quality.

With a few changes to the team due to injuries and suspension, Burnham travelled with a full side and were confident in finding the right result.

Burnham started the game strongly and were rewarded with a penalty which Tim Piper converted to take the score to 0-3.

But Berry got themselves back into the game with their own penalty to level the scores at 3-3 which soon became 6-3 after poor discipline at breakdowns.

The story of the second half was a tale of missed opportunities, unable to create attacking chances and still poor discipline at the break down.

Berry rode their luck and were very fortunate with some decisions but ultimately it was undone by Burnham's inability to take control and turn all the possession and territory into points.

With berry finally getting into Burnham's half and scoring a try in the corner to take the score to 14-3 the home side wrapped up the win in what was a bitter pill to swallow for the travelling Burnham team.

The trip was also Luke Gowan's last game for the club before he goes on his travels and the club want to thank him for all his efforts in the nine years he has been involved.

This Saturday, Burnham are at home to Bristol Harlequins. Kick-off is 3pm.
