Stones' Wood got wedding permission
Rocker Ronnie Wood's new fiancee has revealed that the former hellraiser asked his future father-in-law for her hand in marriage.
The Rolling Stones star, 65, is set to wed theatre producer Sally Humphreys, who is 31 years his junior.
Sally, 34, has been dating the twice-divorced guitarist for around six months and the couple have known each other for nine years.
She told the Press Association: "It is true and we're both very happy."
Asked how Ronnie proposed, she said: "We've known each other for a long time. My parents were down for the Crossfire Hurricane (Rolling Stones documentary) premiere and he asked my dad around then. Then he asked me. But I knew it was on the cards because we'd already talked about it."
She said of the nuptials: "The wedding will be very simple, nothing big or flashy, and we haven't set a date."
She said: "There's no problem with the age difference. I can understand why people would have a problem with it but it doesn't seem to cause any problems. We get on very well. He's very funny and very talented. There's the Ronnie that everyone thinks that they know and the very talented artist and musician."
A spokesman for the guitarist confirmed: "Ronnie is engaged to Sally."
Ronnie, who has battled addiction to drink and drugs, split up with second wife Jo, 57, in 2008, after he left his wife of more than 20 years for 21-year-old former cocktail waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.
His divorce from Jo was finalised last year. His first marriage, from 1971 to 1978, was to Krissy Findlay, the mother of Jesse, one of his four children.
