Fonda honoured next to famous dad
Jane Fonda has wept at the memory of her famous father as her hand and footprints were enshrined in concrete in Hollywood.
The 75-year-old actress, activist and fitness expert was honoured in front of the famous TCL Chinese theatre in a spot next to the prints of Henry Fonda, who died in 1982.
Her father is best known for the classic movies 12 Angry Men and the Grapes Of Wrath and Newsroom star Jane said taking the concrete slab next to him gave the honour extra poignancy.
"What is particularly meaningful to me is that I'm going to be right next to my dad and I can feel his presence right now," she said.
"He used to say to me, 'Jane, don't let this town walk all over you.' Well dad, right now the town can walk all over both of us forever."
She added that she believed the day might never come when she would have the chance to place her hands and feet in cement.
"I swear I was beginning to think that the only way Hollywood was going to give me this opportunity was if the city laid a new sidewalk in front of my house.
"I grew up in this town and I remember walking these sidewalks and seeing the stars and the stars' names and as I got older and older and older and entered what I call my third act, I was sure that the curtain on my third act would come down before this would ever happen."
Jane was cheered on by famous friends Jim Carrey, Eva Longoria and her 9 To 5 co-star Lily Tomlin as she took her place in Hollywood history.
