I watch Downton, admits Jim Carter
Downton Abbey star Jim Carter admits he watches the show because by the time it appears on TV he has forgotten what happens in the plot.
The actor, who plays Mr Carson the butler in the hit period drama, said sitting down to watch the show "finishes the week somehow".
He said: " You know, you sit and watch it, and because we filmed six months ago and so you've forgotten the story really and you're not involved in other people's stories. So seeing it all put together, it's nice, and it finishes the week. I think that's one of the reasons why it's worked so well, it just finishes the week off."
Jim, who is appearing on the CITV show Bookaboo on December 20 to read children's book Grumpy Badger's Christmas, said he will have an old-fashioned festive season with his wife, actress Imelda Staunton, and family.
He said: " We'll eat too much, we will sing carols which I will print out because everybody only knows the first verse of the carols, so I will have printed a few verses. So we will sing those - and, strangely, we don't take it over-seriously but we do it as nicely as we can, and then we play games because I know a lot of parlour games and things like that; very old-fashioned Edwardian parlour games and people love that."
Downton fans wil l see Jim in the Christmas Day special alongside guest star Paul Giamatti, who is joining the cast to play Lady Grantham's brother.
