Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner has defended the show from criticism over the decision to pair Jorgie Porter with Sylvain Longchambon.
Hollyoaks actress Jorgie, who was voted out of the competition at the weekend, was partnered with Sylvain despite the potential for a fall-out over his lovelife.
Sylvain dated Jorgie's co-star and best friend Jennifer Metcalfe before leaving her for his then Dancing On Ice partner Samia Ghadie.
Acid-tongued judge Jason defended the decision to put the two together, with a message on his Facebook page.
"It seems [Jorgie] was a victim of the Casanova syndrome, which I suspect cost her votes," he wrote.
"A real shame to lose someone who showed such promise and clearly was distraught at being the first to leave the competition."
He added: "Many have posted on Twitter that it was a bad decision to pair her with Sylvain. Controversial... maybe, but bad... no.
"Sylvain may have had more a** on this show than a toilet seat but in his defence he is one of the best pro male skaters we've ever had.
"Ultimately the British public have spoken and there's no use complaining or claiming it's a stitch up. If people are so outraged then I wonder how many of those complaining actually voted for her? Clearly not enough."
Jorgie sparked controversy when she joked about being paired up with Sylvain, saying: "If he doesn't try it on with me I'll be really angry."
