Mariah Carey has said she is a hands-on mum - but she has to fire her nannies a lot.
The diva has two-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her husband Nick Cannon.
Mariah, 43, told Power 105.6 radio in New York: "Unfortunately I have to have nannies but I'm very hands-on. I fire nannies like this (snapping her fingers)."
She told The Breakfast Club show in New York: "I hate doing it, but I have to because if they try to make themselves more important in the baby's mind than me... I just brought a girl back with me from Puerto Rico.
"The top priorities for me are the kids."
The You're Mine singer said she was disappointed that she and America's Got Talent host Nick would be apart on Valentine's Day.
"He's not even going to be home from what I hear now... the schedule," she said.
But she added: "I give him credit where credit's due; flowers, we celebrate our anniversary every month of the year."
Mariah also spoke about her experiences on American Idol, where she fell out with Nicki Minaj, and said she wouldn't have joined the show for just 12 million dollars (£7 million).
"That was a moment in my life that I'm going to press delete," she said.
Told it was all worth it because she received a 12 million dollar cheque, Mariah replied: "M ore than than! I'm sorry but I wouldn't have done it for 12."
She said of her experiences on the show: "I was hoping to be more of a mentor for the contestants on the show. I felt that I wasn't there because I couldn't be real."
