Paula Patton has said she will always have a "deep love" for husband Robin Thicke, despite their split.
The 38-year-old actress opened up to Vanity Fair about her relationship for the first time since she and the 36-year-old Blurred Lines singer announced their separation after nine years of marriage on February 24.
Paula told the magazine the couple met at an 18-and-under nightclub when she was 15 and he was 14.
She said: "We've known each other since we were teenagers. All I can tell you is there's a deep love there - always was, and always will be."
Paula revealed that before their first kiss, Robin sang Jodeci's Forever My Lady to her in his dad Alan's living room. "He wasn't my first kiss," she revealed, "but he was my first lots of other things."
The couple have a son, Julian Fuego Thicke, who was born in 2010.
In March Robin cancelled some of his tour dates and flew to Vancouver - where Paula is filming Warcraft, a movie adaptation of the computer game - and told reporters he planned to win her back.
Meanwhile, Paula, who worked in film production after graduating from college, told the magazine she had been too shy to try acting at first.
She revealed: "I felt uncomfortable in my own skin, so I liked the other side of the camera. It took until I was 27 to say, 'You only have one life to live, so you might as well go and see if you can act'."
Paula said of her current film project: "I've never been big into video games. But the Warcraft script reads more like a complex, epic novel."
