Lana Del Rey received a boost ahead of her Glastonbury Festival performance next weekend as she took over at the top of the album charts today.

Del Rey's third album Ultraviolence went to number one by selling almost twice as many copies as fellow new entry The Hunting Party, the sixth album by US rock veterans Linkin Park, according to the Official Chart Company.

Last week's number one, 48:13 by Glastonbury headliners Kasabian, dropped to number five.

Del Rey, 28, previously topped the album chart in 2012 with her debut UK release, Born To Die, which went on to become one of the top five biggest selling albums of that year.

She is due to appear in front of tens of thousands of people on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday.

In the singles chart, 2012 X Factor teenager Ella Henderson's debut release Ghost remains at the top for a second week,

The song by the 18-year-old from Tetney in Lincolnshire, co-written by OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, last week became the fourth fastest selling single of the year so far.

And despite being in second place all this week, she eventually denied Australian boyband 5 Seconds Of Summer a number one with Don't Stop by just 3,000 copies, which the Official Chart Company said made it one of the closest chart battles of 2014 so far.

Ed Sheeran's former number one Sing dropped to four from two, while Hertfordshire singer/songwriter George Ezra scored his highest charting single to date with Budapest, which is new at four. Stay With Me, by Sam Smith completes the top five.
