David Hasselhoff is to star in his own spoof sitcom - Hoff The Record.

The star of Baywatch and Knight Rider will play a fictional version of himself in the six-part semi-improvised series for UKTV comedy channel Dave.

The Hoff joked: "When I made Baywatch, I dreamed of one day having my own show on a channel named after me. Hoff The Record is coming soon to the UK, only on Dave. They did name the channel after me, right?"

Hoff The Record will see the cult actor and singer moving to the UK after five divorces (in reality The Hoff has only had two) and some less successful jobs, to try and get his career back on track.

The show will follow in the vein of semi-improvised comedies such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, starring Larry David and Warwick Davis' Life's Too Short.

The rest of the cast are expected to be announced soon.

UKTV commissioning editor Iain Coyle, said the show was "funny, clever and bizarre - in a good way".

The series, made by An Idiot Abroad producer Me And You Productions, is scheduled to air next year.
