Nicole Scherzinger opened up about bulimia in a TV interview
Nicole Scherzinger has opened up about her battle with an eating disorder.
The US singer and X Factor judge revealed she started struggling with bulimia in 2003, when she was still a member of the Pussycat Dolls, reports People.
Speaking on a Behind The Music special for VH1, she said: "I hated myself... I never felt so alone in my life."
Nicole, 34, continued: "I guess it was like my addiction, right? I never did drugs, but kinda doing things to myself was my addiction. It's like when I got offstage, I was on this high, and I'd come back to my room and I'd be alone, so I would just do things. My bulimia was my addiction. Hurting myself was my addiction."
The songstress, who is dating Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton, said it was "embarrassing" to discuss her eight-year battle with bulimia.
She said: "I never spoke about it. Like I said, I never want to play a victim, and I never wanted my family to hear about things from me because I think it would break their heart, you know?"
