Thank you for fundraising

MAY I, through your letters page, express my thanks to the people of Burnham and Highbridge for their generosity to the local division during our recent flag week.

A total of £949.57 was collected by the cadets and their officers, all of which will be used within the Burnham and Highbridge Cadet Division towards training costs, provision of uniforms etc.

One point I would like to make is regarding the current initiative taking place, where students are knocking on doors asking people to sign an agreement to make an annual contribution to St John Ambulance.

This is not connected to the local division in any way and is organised by St John Headquarters in London, who receive the proceeds of this type of fundraising. I understand there has been some confusion over this, which has led people to think we are collecting twice within a few weeks and this is not the case.

Once again, my sincere thanks to the members of the public who continue to support the local division so generously in our traditional house-to-house collection.
