SOMERSET COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ACT 2004 THE COUNTY OF SOMERSET PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF STOPPING. WAITING-LOADING AND UNLOADING AND ON-STREET PARKING SEDGEMOOR ORDER 2012 (AMENDMENT NO. 18) ORDER 2020 Notice is hereby given that Somerset County Council proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35, 53, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (hereinafter referred to as 'the Act of 1984') as amended; and the Traffic Management Act 2004, (hereinafter referred to as 'the Act of 2004') as amended, and all other enabling powers. The effect will result in changes in restriction, permit costs and eligibility described in the Schedules below along Barclay Street, Bridgwater within Sedgemoor District, Somerset

STATEMENT OF REASONS FOR PROPOSING TO MAKE THE ORDER
Proposals
The introduction of permit parking on the following road, within Bridgwater.
Barclay Street, Bridgwater - Permit parking area, Monday to Saturday, 08:30 to 18:00 Reasons
Following consultation with residents of Barclay Street, Bridgwater it is proposed to introduce a permit parking area. The permit parking area will improve congestion and reduce traffic from vehicles looking for parking in the area to the detriment of residents with no off-road parking. Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 The specific grounds which the County Council are using for the implementation of the proposed no waiting at any time restriction as above, are the following sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:
¦ Section 1 (a) for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other such road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
¦ Section 1 (c) for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).
¦ Section 1 (f) for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs. In addition, thorough consideration was given to the factors set out in Section 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 in proposing this Traffic Order.
Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016
All the associated signing will be in accordance with traffic signs regulations and general directions 2016.
Equality Act 2010
Consideration was given to the equalities duty of the County Council under Section 149 of the Equality Act 2010.
