THE eagerly anticipated Biannual Autumn Sporting Sale at Greenslade Taylor Hunt saw attendees travelling large distances once again confirming the specialist auction as a favourite in the antiques calendar.

The sale at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, put together by experienced valuer Stuart Triggol enjoyed a good selling rate and is a firm fixture in the auctioneers’ comprehensive range of specialist and general sales.

Of particular note was the painting section where a number of lots proved appealing to buyers. A selection of small studies of game by James Stinton was a particular hit. Collectively they sold for £775.

A colour engraving of the “Isle of Ely Prize Ox” by noted livestock artist William Henry Davis was another hit in the saleroom. This time a phone bidder paid £395 for the portrait.

In a busy fishing section a B. James & Son “Kennet Perfection” fishing rod was sold for £240.

Entries are now being taken for the Spring Sporting Sale, which will take place in April 2019. For further information please contact the saleroom on 01823 332525.
