THE Burnham & Highbridge Weekly News is proud to be the media partner of an upcoming music event showcasing the talents of a local singer-songwriter.

Songs of Somerset’ will bring a unique programme of tunes and stories amassed by folk artist Timothy Dean to the Princess Theatre in Burnham-on-Sea in September.

Dean has been well-known as a folk singer in Somerset for several years.

In that time, he has also amassed an intimate knowledge of the county's stories, mysteries, and legends, ranging from the prehistoric Cheddar Man to pirates.

His research will be brought to life throughout the concert, featuring his original songs and stories and accompanied by his virtuoso guitar skills.

The event description on the theatre's website said: “If you think you know about Somerset, be prepared to be surprised. And be prepared to witness a superb local singer, song-writer, and musician.

“This is an evening for anyone who loves folk music and wants to learn about the many fascinating tales in Somerset’s long history.”

Ahead of the event, the Burnham & Highbridge Weekly News will publish more updates, and a video performance by Dean will be broadcast on our Facebook page.

Dean lives in Brent Knoll, where he serves as the village's postman and was invited to officially open its new community shop.

He recently premiered ‘Songs of Somerset’ in the village to a sell-out audience.

Their enjoyment of his songs, guitar-playing, and storytelling led to the performance being scheduled at the Princess Theatre.

The one-night event will be staged at Burnham's 200-capacity Princess Theatre at 7:30pm on Wednesday, September 21.

Tickets are £13 and can be purchased on the theatre's website
