This year’s annual Civic Service in Burnham is to be held this Sunday, October 4. The awards are drawn up from a list of nominees, submitted to the council by members of the public. At approximately 2.50pm the Mayoral party will leave the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre for a short procession to St Andrews Church, where it is hoped the Civic Party will be greeted by a guard of honour from the cadet services. During the service the Mayor’s guest of Honour, Mrs James Nelson, the High Sheriff of Somerset, will, in recognition for their service to the community, present Civic awards to Les Barber, Alun Davies and Neville Jones OBE.
