A man has died at Highbridge railway station after being hit by a passing train.
British Transport Police has confirmed that the death of the man, who has not been named, is not considered to be suspicious.
Highbridge railway station has been closed this afternoon after emergency services were called to the station just after noon.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We were called to Highbridge and Burnham station at 12.09pm on Thursday, 22 October to reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Colleagues from Avon and Somerset Constabulary and South Western Ambulance Service also attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and officers are now working to identify him and inform his family.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Trains have been suspended. Disruption is expected to last until three at the earliest.
