SEDGEMOOR District Council’s Food Inspection team is pleased to have been found to be awarding food hygiene ratings consistently.
The Food Standards Agency carried out a consistency exercise on 320 of 326 local authorities in England to check that local councils award the same food hygiene ratings to a variety of food businesses as they would have done.
A Sedgemoor District Council’s spokesperson said: “We are pleased to have been found to be awarding consistent food hygiene ratings as part of this exercise.
"This is good news for us but also for local businesses and customers as they can be sure we are being fair and even-handed in our approach.
"With the vast majority of Sedgemoor food businesses gaining a 3 or higher food hygiene rating (of 5) we recommend checking the food ratings before eating out.
"Customers can check food hygiene ratings by visiting ratings.food.gov.uk/ or looking out for the rating sticker in business windows.”
