BURNHAM and Highbridge Town Council has said it will not pay £32,000 toward continuing the 67 bus service.
Councillors argued that the bus mainly benefitted those going between Wedmore and Wells but the town council was being asked for a large share of the fee.
As reported in the Weekly News, the 67 bus service is facing the axe following the sudden demise of WebberBus in May last year, with the county council stepping in to fund the route, but was withdrawing its funding due to financial pressures.
Cllr Phil Harvey said if a different deal was drawn up with Somerset County Council they should consider it but said “at the moment, it is nonsense”.
