STAFF at a Burnham-on-Sea opticians are supporting a care charity by taking part in a Bubble Rush race.

Kate Bull, Julia Reed, David Bull, Jill Campbell, Karen McGowan and Natasha Steele, from David Bull Optometrists in the High Street, are set to take part in the race in Apex Park on August 5 to raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

Mr Bull said four of his family members, including two of his grandchildren, will also be taking on the challenge and said its a cause that is close to his heart.

He said: “We first heard about Bubble Rush from a flyer sent to us from the hospice having been supporters of past events.

“My wife’s father died of cancer some years ago and received great care at the hospice during his illness.

“He really enjoyed his Wednesday trips to the hospice.

“Since that time we have tried to support them as much as we can by taking part in Christmas Cracker beach runs and by supporting the Tree of Life.

“We have a strong team spirit and this is the latest of several fundraising events that we have enjoyed as a group.”

The 10-strong team, named Team Bulls Eye, hopes to raise £500 for the hospice which provides physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual care and support to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Sally Davis, community and events manager at Weston Hospicecare said: “We love hearing stories from people like David and the rest of Team Bull’s Eye.

“We hope their story inspires even more people to sign up, take part and raise sponsorship, and we wish Team Bull’s Eye the best of luck.”
