Where are they now?
This picture tells us a lot about how fashion has changed in the last ten years.
Lonsdale jackets and baggy jeans were, clearly, all the rage.
The picture shows several students from the King Alfred School, in Higbridge, collecting prizes for a set of excellent exam results.
And here’s what we reported in the Bridgwater Mercury on January 8, 2008.
RECOGNITION was dished out at the King Alfred School presentation evening with prizes for excellent exam results.
A-level students were on the receiving end of subject-specific awards, and extra GCSE prizes were given out to students who made outstanding progress and those who secured top marks.
Chairman of governors Tony Grimes presented the accolades with special mention going to Emily Frost who received an outstanding achievement award for gaining 11 A* GCSE grades.
Other notable highlights included entertaining speeches on university life from former students Gavin Bargery and Gabby Stevens. There was also a year 12 presentation about the recent visit to New York and the fundraising antics throughout rag week, as well as musical entertainment.
Head teacher Dr Keith Diffey said: “This annual event is always a wonderful occasion. It’s great to see students who have just left for university and to see them renewing old friendships.”
