A HERRING gull has been given an unusual name after it was found covered in jam.
Volunteers from Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntspill were called to Isleport Business Park in Highbridge earlier this week after receiving reports a herring gull was covered in blood.
But when volunteers took the bird back to the centre and assessed him they discovered he was covered in jam and named him 'Jammy'.
A spokesman for Secret World Wildlife Rescue, said: "The other day we had a call about a herring gull covered in blood at Isleport Business Park in Highbridge.
"Our response driver, Graham, rushed to the scene, and transported him back to our centre.
"On arrival he was assessed and the blood was found to be jam.
"He has now been named 'Jammy'."
