A NIGHT celebrating ‘divas through the decades’ is set to be held on the edge of Bridgwater as part of a massive fundraising effort.

The event is being organised by Emma Spreadbury, who is also planning to conquer a 450km (280 miles) bike ride across India later this year.

The diva-inspired evening will take place at Sydenham Barn on June 29 from 7pm.

It will feature Katie Markham, better known as the One and Only Adele, and include a hog roast which has been donated by Court Farm Butchers in Puriton.

Emma said: “The money raised is going to three charities, Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.”

There will be a disco and a full bar. Tickets cost £15 in advance or £20 on the door.

All tmoney raised will go directly to the charities, but Emma has to reach a fundraising target before she does the bike ride in India.

As well as training hard, she needs to raise a minimum of £3,200 to support the work of Women v Cancer charities.

For the cycling challenge, Emma will fly to Delhi before a long five-hour bus ride up to Agra.

The first day on her bike will see the group travelling around 43 miles across rural India.

The second day includes riding 62 miles through the Ranthambore National Park, which is famous for its tigers but also home to leopards, sloth bears, jackals and hyenas.

Emma’s journey will also include an overnight stay at the 200-year-old Talabgaon Castle, a stop at Umaid Lake Palace, and then the final stop, which will be in the Diggi Palace in Japiur, known as the Pink City.

The cycle is the ninth Women v Cancer challenge and features an all-female team riding through rural Rajasthan.

The fundraiser is set to take place from November 11 to 20.

Previous Women v Cancer cycle challenges in Kenya, India, Cuba, China, Africa, Vietnam and Cambodia have raised more than £9million for the three charities.
