A 59-YEAR-OLD from Bridgwater has hung up his tools after 32 years with the same building firm.

Adrian Jenkins has retired from Persimmon Homes Severn Valley after joining the company as a joiner in 1986, before working primarily as a customer care maintenance operative.

His role involved visiting homeowners across the South West to fix any problems they may have with the properties.

But now, after standing down, Adrian is looking forward to touring the UK and further afield with his wife, Lynette.

He said: “I’ve had such a brilliant time working for Persimmon, but I felt like now was the right time to say goodbye.

“My role was a really varied one, working on properties across the Severn Valley region.

"I was sent out to put things right, whether it was carpentry, painting or decorating.

"Over the years, I’ve worked with so many fantastic people, but now I’m looking forward to embracing my retirement. Lynette and I have so many plans to travel far and wide and we can’t wait to get started."

Steve Roche, managing director at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “We are sad to see Adrian go but he is an example of exemplary service and we’d like to thank him for that.

“To clock up 32 years with the company is such an achievement and I’m sure everyone would wish him a long and enjoyable retirement.”
