WATCHFIELD Village Hall was filled with colourful exhibits as the village hosted its 32nd annual flower show.

Visitors from across Somerset packed into the hall on Saturday (August 27) and enjoyed looking at more than 80 entries in an array of classes ranging from flowers and vegetables to jams and cakes.

The number of entries in the flower and vegetable classes were similar to last year, despite the challenging growing conditions during the spring and early summer this year.

Refreshments were available in the form of tea and cakes and everyone enjoyed the community spirit of the event.

Keith Whitting, chairman of the Watchfield Hall Committee, said: “Overall the flower show was a success, everyone had a lovely day.

"We had 89 entries and raised £250 towards getting a new village hall.

"The judging panel said the standard of entries was very pleasing but we had fewer flower entries this year due to the hot weather."
