A COOKERY club at The King Alfred School is expanding so students in Years 7, 8 and 9 can learn how to cook.

Organisers of the club said it has been thriving since it started ten months ago after a large donation from Highbridge and Burnham Rotary Club.

And the club is going to be running exam-buster food events, cream tea afternoons for students over the next few months and a mince pie and tea afternoon at Christmas.

One of the club’s organisers, Amanda Timmins, said: “This has been a fantastic start to our cooking club and we are delighted how it has all gone.

“The students are thriving and loving every minute of it.

“Many thanks to all the community and groups and businesses who have supported us.”
