AN APPEAL has been launched after an Axbridge homeowner was tied up and robbed of £3,500 by a group of men wearing Halloween masks.

Avon and Somerset Police put out the appeal following the incident on Cheddar Road, Axbridge Thursday, September 6 between midnight and 2am.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Four or five men wearing Halloween face masks and scarves forced entry into the victim’s bungalow.

"Once inside the offenders tied up the homeowner and threatened him with violence if he didn’t tell them where his valuables were stored.

"One of the men, who had his face partially covered with a scarf, is described black.

The victim gave the offenders the key to his safe and they took more than £3,500 cash along with premium bonds, several watches, jewellery, a tie-pin and bank cards.

"The offenders were demanding Rolex watches but the victim has no Rolex watches."
