A BURNHAM-on-Sea couple is renewing their wedding vows next month and is asking guests to donate to charity instead of buying them gifts.

To celebrate their tenth anniversary, Jamie Hutton and his wife, Tracy, will be renewing their vows at The Tavern in Brean on November 3 and raising funds for Above and Beyond.

The charity, which is based in Bristol, works to raise funds to ensure patients in Bristol city hospitals get the best care and support possible.

Jamie said he is excited for the ceremony and hopes to raise ‘a lot of money’ for the charity which is close to his heart.

“We lost a little girl 11 years ago and her name would have been Eleanor,” Jamie said.

“Above and Beyond were so good to us at the hospital, they gave us some fantastic care and support while we were there.

“We want to give something back to Above and Beyond for the support they have given us and doing it at our wedding vows renewal seemed like the perfect opportunity.

“We are also going to be baptising our son, Sam, on the same day as our vow renewal so it is a special day for us.”

To tell guests about their plans for the big day, Jamie and Tracy sent out invitations with a special poem attached urging them to donate to the charity.

The poem says: “The Gift of Life brings clarity and this is all we need, in joining our celebration we only ask for one deed.

“With ways of giving on our day a donation on your part to Above and Beyond charity, one closest to our heart.”

Jamie said 150 guests are set to come to the special events next month and said he hopes it will be night to remember.

“We have done some fundraising in the past and raised about £400 for Above and Beyond but we want to do more,” Jamie said.

“We are really looking forward to the ceremony and to Sam’s baptism.

“I hope it will be a really nice day for us and that we raise a lot of money for Above and Beyond.”
