VOLUNTEERS at a Burnham-on-Sea charity have thanked the organisers of a country and western festival after they raised more than £4,400 in just nine days.

Earlier this month, The Friends of Burnham-on-Sea Hospital set up shop in the foyer of The Seagull at Northam Holiday Park in Brean and sold cards, wooden bird boxes and themed doorstops at the venue's country and western festival.

The charity's volunteers also walked around the venue with their collection buckets and raised £4,428.

Ceri Joyce from The Friends of Burnham Hospital, said: "We cannot thank Northam Farm enough for their benevolence and support.

"The event was amazing, it is an occasion which has to be seen to be believed.

"The ladies looked particularly stunning and sometimes had several costume changes per day. "Entertainment carried on throughout the day and ranged from line dancing in the mornings to live acts with top class country and western musicians going on well into the night.

"There were cowboys, Indians, Mexicans and every other persuasion of Western life.

"The costumes were amazing and the thousands of people who moved into Brean for the experience really threw themselves into the whole event."

"We sincerely hope that other venues will offer similar support to us in 2019.
