AROUND 1,000 families have not applied for a secondary school place for their child.
Somerset School Admissions has sent the reminder on its Facebook account to warn parents and guardians of the upcoming deadline.
Applications to transfer to secondary or upper school in September 2019 need to be submit them by October 31.
The post said: "There are approximately 1000 families in Somerset who have not made an application to transfer to secondary or upper school in September 2019. The deadline is 31 October 2018. If you wish to secure a place for your child at secondary or upper school in September, you must apply by this date.
"Please note, there is no automatic transfer from a primary school to a secondary school or from a middle school to an upper school."
No reminder letter was sent out to families this year in a council bid to save £5,000.
