BREAN residents could lose their main Post Office after the shop which housed it closed and the postmaster resigned.

The Church Road Post Office has been temporarily closed since September after the Premier store it was based in closed and the Post Office says no-one has come forward to take it on.

A spokesman for the Post Office, said: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Brean Post Office following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of premises for Post Office use.

"The branch was run by an independent retailer who recently closed their shop and at the same time resigned from the Post Office.

"While we always work hard to maintain Post Office services, we are not the owner of the premises and regrettably, we are unable to re-open the branch at present.

“We understand how important a Post Office can be to a community and would like to reassure customers that we are working hard to restore services to them as soon as possible."
