BURNHAM Medical Centre is set for a £100,000 makeover.

The medical centre, in Love Lane, will be having a £130,000 refurbishment of its patient consulting and treatment rooms.

The work started at the end of October and it is hoped it will be finished by the the New Year.

Burnham and Berrow Medical Centre was built in 1987 - making this the first refurbishment of its clinical services.

Wall and ceiling décor is being improved with sink units, flooring and examination couches also being brought up-to-date.

The centre says it will improve appearances but also ensure all surfaces are easier to be cleaned and maintained in line with all current infection control standards.

There will be some temporary disruption to consulting rooms whilst the refurbishments taken place, but the practice and its services are otherwise unaffected.

Dr Mike Wolfman, Senior Partner, said: “This refurbishment is necessary and I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience it might cause.

"However, once completed we expect the clinical consulting rooms to offer a noticeable improvement of environment to both our patients and staff."

The medical centre’s refurbishment is being funded in the main by the partners of the practice with a minor improvement grant from NHS England.
