A TEAM of amateur gymnasts from Monarch’s Gymnastics Club came home with a haul of medals after taking part in a competition.

Eleven gymnasts from the Highbridge club took part in The Pat Wade Classic Competition in Stoke-on- Trent on Saturday (November 24) and Sunday (November 25) and battled it out against some of the best gymnasts in the country.

The competition was fierce but the club’s gymnasts put their best foot forward and won an impressive haul of medals.

Men’s pair Joe Blake and Kian Hawkes were in second place after two really good routines on Saturday but secured gold medals in the 12-18 age group after an amazing combined routine on Sunday.

The club’s men;’s four group made up of Joe Reed, Toby Baker, Jack Warburton and Mason Wall competed together for the second time and wowed crowds with two new routines.

And the club’s new trio of Ornela Velaj, Jess Reed and Evie Tissington and young pair, Jennifer Marshall and Summer Belben managed walked away with good scores after two excellent routines on Saturdayr.

Speaking after the event, Ms Warburton, said: “All of our gymnasts performed really well and managed to come home with some impressive scores.

“All of the gymnasts who competed over the weekend will be competing in Scotland in January.

“We are really looking forward to future competitions and are proud of our gymnasts for having a fantastic weekend at the competition in Stoke-on-Trent.”
